Résumé ou extrait
- Britain has a proud maritime heritage encompassing the impressive history of the Royal Navy, as well as the contribution made by civilian seafarers over the years. Yet rather than dwelling on the past, the focus of this book goes beyond the current horizon and embraces the advances that have been made in all spheres of contemporary life. Accordingly, we identified a breathtakingly diverse host of organizations and institutions, many of them international, which, through excellence in their particular spheres, continue to contribute to one common aim. That aim is to ensure that Britain remains a prosperous, outward-looking force for good in the world community, as well as tolerant and benevolent nation which some 60 million of us are privileged to call home.
