Addictive alcohol consumption in France is a major public health issue. According to guidelines, any patient consulting for acute alcoholism should ideally meet an addictology specialist but not all structures have a specialised addictology team. Our objective was to evaluate the impact of an "addictology" interview in sobering patients hospitalised in emergency departments on the demand for addictive care. Our study did not find any positive impact on the demand for addictology care in patients who had an "addictology" interview compared to patients receiving only written information about care structures. However, when analysing the interviews, patients who had previous contact with an addictology team were more likely to agree to receive treatment following their consultation to the emergency department (OR = 18.6 95% CI [1.8 977.6], p = 0.003). In order to optimise the management of addiction in patients after acute alcoholisation, standardised written information should be given to all patients. The collaboration with teams specialised in addictology will improve the quality of the interviews and thus confirm by a future study the relevance of these recommendations and to validate the evolution of practices in the care of patients after acute alcoholisation.
