Résumé ou extrait
- "This book is the sequel to Southeast Asia and the European Union : non-traditional security crises and cooperation (Routledge, 2014) and continues with the unique non-traditional security (NTS) crisis-centred perspective of the ASEAN-EU relationship to hone conceptual and empirical findings. The author draws upon more recent NTS crises - between 2009 and 2016 - as case studies from both Southeast Asia and Western Europe. Discussions of case studies focus on actions of the EU as a collective actor within the inter-regional dialogue formats and relevant bilateral and multilateral programmes with Southeast Asian counterparts to flesh out the three-pronged research objective of this book, which is to create understanding, first, of the EU as a security actor; second, of the EU as a normative actor; and third, of the value of inter-regionalism as a foreign and security tool of the EU in Southeast Asia. Enhancing topical debates of the EU as an actor in regions far from Europe and offering a timely assessment of crisis-induced regionalism and inter-regionalism in world affairs to underline the importance of regional organisations in the management of contemporary global NTS challenges, this book will be of interest to scholars studying International Relations, International Security, Southeast Asian Studies, European Studies and Public Policy."
