During the two and a half day meeting 28 papers were presented. The seventeen papers in classified sessions provided a broad overview of the natural and man-made visual hazards to which aviators may be exposed. In addition, more detailed analysis of damage mechanisms, of the effects on visual performance, and of methods of providing protection to aircrew were presented. In unclassified sessions, 11 ophthalmological papers were presented. Those covered the operational use of contact lenses by military aircrew, cataract surgery and intra-ocular lenses, the correction of refractive errors by fadial keratotomy, impairment of colour vision in opthalmologists using argon lasers, and the medical lmanagement of combat laser eye injuries
